Headcanons

— Please note that my portrayal of Hubert is a mix of his Eng and JP versions. There is a difference between the two and I am happy to explain if anyone'd curious!— Hubert has a pretty macabre sense of humor and gives out backhanded compliments a lot— Hubert is unable to allow himself to become closer to anyone pre-timeskip due to his lack of trust in anyone other than Edelgard— He despises the concept of Edelgard getting her hands dirty with blood, which is why he chooses to carry out the more gruesome duties willingly— Coffee is his favorite, but he will drink tea if there are no other options. He also will not complain if offered any— He is very secretive about what he does that even Edelgard will not know unless they grow even closer than they already are— Deft with a lance. Will always carry one around with him to battle— Skilled with a piano. The SoundCloud music on this Carrd are some pieces I associate with him— Even if cats isn't one of his tea time options, Hubert has a very soft spot for them. He just refuses to talk about them during tea time because he doesn't want to expose his soft side— He thinks very lowly of himself and finds it hard to understand why anyone other than Edelgard is so willing to spend time with him— Hubert despises having any facial hair because he wants to be different from his father, whom I headcanon having facial hair— However, he does have very thin eyebrows. This is non-negotiable. He. Has. Eyebrows.— He knows the bare minimum of faith to be able to heal others and heal himself, albeit not as good as those who devote themselves to the practice— As a member of House Vestra, he's well versed in herbs used for toxins and treatment— He knows a spell used to disintegrate evidence, such as blood-stained gloves— He will definitely tease people for their shorter height— Personally I am not a fan of the interpretation that Hubert has darkened hands due to dark magic. Nobody ever depicts Lysithea and Hapi having such, so why should Hubert? However, his hands are definitely scarred from both cuts and chemicals from his training as a Vestra— Canonically has a little sister that Lysithea reminds him of, so he will dote but also tease/bully other Lysitheas just like how an older brother would— Whenever Hubert raises one brow, it's the side of this face that's covered by his hair, so if you see his uncovered eye + brow raise it means he's genuinely surprised as both of his eyes/brows are moving
